The Ksamil Islands are part of the Ionian coast, in the Ksamil Administrative Unit, Saranda Municipality. They were declared a Natural Monument in 2002 and today they are an integral part of Butrint National Park. They have an area of 15 ha, of which 5 ha is land and 10 ha is sea. They are located about 7.5 m – 15 m above sea level. The islands have a tectonic origin and were created in the Jurassic period. They are small rocky islands next to each other covered with a typical Mediterranean vegetation, while the sea part, in addition to the curvature of the water, has a very rich fauna and flora. The beaches along the islands are a unique area, representative of the rocky Ionian coast and among the most preferred by local and foreign tourists. The islands can be reached by swimming or by small boats since the distance from the shore is small. The islands together with the coastal environment around them constitute one of the most picturesque ensembles of the Albanian Riviera
